In a deck, this might as well be a manalith. Plus I don't think there was any better options when this came out, which you need to take into consideration when rating this card!

Regardless of whether or not it is obsolete, it is still a decent card, yes there are better. Except for arguably one card, aren't all cards bettered by that "theoretical best card".
@mdakw576. "Almost strictly worst", now that sounds almost definitely like an oxymoron, probably.
I know I've ranted about this with other so-called bad cards, but this does not fall below the "dangerous to play" threshold that I use to judge a sub 2.5-2 card, you know like Thrashing Mudspawn. Not even close.

What's that Darksteel Ingot? You're able to add even more mana-fixing AND you're indestructible? At common? This card is obsolete, aside from the terrible puns...as pointed out by iamjohn.

Nice. Cost of a Diamond, comes in to play untaped, produces two colors of mana.

If you are playing Commander and have a GW deck, then this is better than some other artifacts. For example, if you had played Chromatic Lantern instead, an opponent could drop their Scuplting Steel or Phyrexian Metamorph and fix their mana off of your card. The counter-arguement is, of course, just blow their's up... but I think it would be more satisfying to use and older card with great art than to just min-max for the sake of winmore.
