The land is an encampment. The warrior comes out of his camp to kill some foes. Makes sense to me, and the card is pretty good too, first strike is always good defensively.

In a perfect world, this would make a 2/1 Warrior Token with "Sacrifice this creature at the beginning of the next end step." to be completely flavorful as you guys have pointed out. But I think it's unnecessary mechanically (and maybe a bit broken if properly exploited) and the whole manland cycle is/was fine the way it is/was.
I guess you could also think of it as revealing the encampment location when the warrior appears, putting the encampment at risk. How you would Go for the Throat of an encampment... well that is another story.

Stellar next to instant speed burn. First strike + burn means that at 4 mana with a bolt in hand you can kill up to a 5/5 without worry. Same defensively.
Imagine nova-chaser or ball lightning, animating this is a card-advantage way to kill them while saving yourself from atrocious amounts of damage. This + staggershock in hand is like playing god. They attack with that small X/2, you just animate and kill it. They don't? You shock it to death then do the same next turn (or to the face.)
It's easy to see why man-lands are tournament staples and casual misses (most of the time.) they don't make sense except when the game is going to be close. Where making land drops is crucial, where you need every card to pull a lot of weight. This kind of land pulls a ton of weight by being both a land drop and a creature drop. Keep in mind it's a T3 first strike attacker if you need it!

If the warrior(s) comes out of the encampment, then it is just some tents in the middle of nowhere. If the warriors die, it is no longer a ghitu encampment - it is a random abandoned outpost with no value (hence the land dies too).
This cycle of manlands was really awesome. They all produce coloured mana and are really efficiently costs.
