Odd tech against undying creatures?
Probably not, but still, it's a decent creature.

Strictly better than Grizzly Bear.

"can you identify killer trees?"
my friends can after i made the mistake of playing a lumberknot in an enchantment deck in a multiplayer game.
quote-"come on guys, its only a 20/20 with 3 sets of umbra armour, vigilance, lifelink and first strike"
to be fair, it was my only creature, and all my opponents had flying creatures that i couldnt block.

Not super impressive.
Compare with the 1G eldrazi card that gives you a 2/2 and a 0/1 eldrazi token.

Not actually strictly better than a bear - you can respond to the ETB and kill it with a 1 damage spell before it buffs itself.
This would have been dominant in INN limited - it's only pretty good in AVR.

Remember that you can use him to build something up over time with his ETB effect, with something like Roaring Primadox. Also Mikaeus, the Lunarch can turn that +1/+1 counter into a boost for your whole army. This is underrated in my opinion. Hamlet Captain makes this sad though.

Meh, Ironshell Beetle is cuter, and benefits from Swarmyard.
