Damn zombie snakes, always materializing out of thin air.

Wow this is not that bad. Could be great in pauper control decks or something.

Lets your chump kill their champ.... and live to tell the tale afterwards.

Efficient removal for Black in Limited, a color that desperately needs it to survive. Still, definitely not worth picking Black over -any- other color for.

Unlike Giant Growth, this kills creatures of any size as long as your creature has at least 1 power and the attacking creature doesn't have first strike or evasion and your opponent doesn't have a kill spell to use in response...
Well, at least it gives you options to save your creature

Compare with lace with moonglove.
Would you rather regenerate your chumper... or draw a card?
But then again... what if you used this to save a really awesome creature?

Just today, I won nearly all of my games in Draft-format with this. It's simple, really. The main way to deal damage is through attacking. Therefore, making your creature less killable than theirs is always a bonus.
Although a little costly (CMC-wise), it's worth its weight. 4/5

Simple, powerful combat trick for black, especially If they gang block. Not bad at all.

I prefer it over Gaze of the Gorgon.

Gaze of the Gorgon works even if the creature dealt low or no damage, as long as it's blocked.
