I'm disappointed I can't use this in EDH. I have a mono-green ramp deck that would LOVE this big green ramping trampling beatstick. It also seems screwed up to me that the only format this is banned in is the pre-broken, just-for-giggles social format(I don't play tournament, so I'm sure someone else could shed some light on that anyway).

Mono-Green with this, Dungrove Elder, and Garruk, Primal Hunter.
Sure, you're going to run a lot of ramp and other green-support.
But this guy's going to give Dungrove +2/+2 from each Forest you fetch, and Garruk's making two more 6/6's when his ultimate hits.
Not to mention keeping some Fresh Meat around when a Day may hit.
Add some Beast Withins, and you're on your way to some good times.

Not buying a box of M12 = $ to spend on a set of these.

I'm going to be honest, without Valakut, he's actually not nearly as terrifying as any of the other Titans. He just winds up giving you more mana than you'll know what to do with after a couple turns (not a bad thing, but not a game-ender, necessarily, not by himself). After a while he's just a 6/6 with Trample, though he is helping thin out your deck, which is nice, but again, I don't see him as being as OP as everyone says. That is, of course, without Valakut. With Valakut he's a monster.

Even excluding everything else nutty you can do with Primeval Titan, he's Explosive Vegetation that can find nonbasic lands and then {1}{G} for a 6/6 trample.

Ugh. I was presented with a choice of one of three boosters. Mine contained a Mesa Enchantress. And one of the others contained this, which I was mad about. And the last one contained Jace, Memory Adept. What is this. Why.
Also, combos with Wood Elemental.

This is simply the best of all titans because its CIP trigger is a tutor. Anyone who is an experienced magic player knows that tutor is the single most powerful, most abusable mechanic in magic.

What's that? Valakut rotating out soon? Ooooooh...tragic. Here, I'll play a song for you on the world's smallest violin. Frost Titan will accompany.

combines the best aspect of green power and mana ramp.
the tough part of a mana ramp deck is finding the early game balance between mana ramp cards so your later game strategy is playable, and playing creatures so you're still around for the later game.
and if you think this guy is a later game card, well
T1, forest, llanowar elves/Arbor Elf (2 mana total)
T2, forest, Harrow, rampant growth (5 mana)
T3, forest, Primeval titan (8 mana)
T4, whatever you want
i've actually done that, and turn 4, i dropped a forest and Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger
so, that's a 6/6 trampler and 8 mana at the end of turn 3. end of turn 4, i've got a 6/6 trampler and 7/6 trampler, and if i attacked with the titan, i've got 10 lands, which is 20 mana thanks to vorinclex. TURN 4
5/5 by a landslide

@ MaelstromWrath
Yes he would. The ability triggers when he attacks, so by time the damage is calculated, he'd get that +2/+2 bonus.
That's a great strategy, however. Adding him into an Aura deck with Bear Umbra and something like Omnath, Locus of Mana can REALLY make for some dangerous play.
