They should have just printed Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed, secondary marked be damned. It's not on the reserved list, and the reserved list is the only statement Wizards has made about protecting the secondary market, they shouldn't even consider the value of non-reserved list cards.

Turn 3: Thousand-Year Elixir
Turn 4: Dark Ritual, Cao Cao Lord of Wei. Tap him twice, opponent discards 4 cards

This guy is totally brutal in my casual Assassin deck. I wish Gwendlyn Di Corci wasn't on the reserved list and that they'd reprinted her instead, I splash her colors for my buddy Thrax anyways.

Whatever else you have to say about this card, I think we can all agree it looks absolutely phenomenal with the newer border and card template.

Guys, they probably reprinted it as they seemed to be thinking of the EDH market when they decided on this list, and this guy is an excellent discard based general. Xiahou Dun is cool, but a bit of a no-brainer, whereas this guy represents a deck type to experiment with.

Very impressive card. I'd rate him higher if he wasn't such a pain to face off with. 4/5

I don't like what this card represents. If Wizards pays too much attention to the secondary market, reprints become limited, and the game suffers for it. The only reason why Xiahou Dun (The actual legend that was requested for this release) is so expensive is his scarcity. Since the card is a popular EDH card that does something completely unique (No other Black card can return so many card types from the graveyard), he should have been reprinted.

Instead, we got Cao Cao, Lord of Wei. Who wanted this card? It's a poor EDH general, and a card that does something a lot of black cards already do. The only really likeable thing about him is his importance to the Romance of Three Kingdoms plot.

Its a Mind Rot on a stick, whats not to love? This would make a fantastic EDH general, and there's a ton of ways to protect it with artifacts.

Staple a tap Mind Rot on a 3/3 body? Great black combo card material.

This guy's crazy. Repeatable Mind Rot at instant speed - only on your turn, but it's still really open. Activate it during your upkeep, or in response to them doing something.

@ HerpaDerp

A recycling Mind Rot, none the less.

Jeez, that's amazing. That's my kind of general!

"This card, really isn't so good" Aha. I see.
What is a good card to you? Black Lotus? Ancestral Recall?
No s**t.
Even though this costs 5 CMC and is "only" a 3/3, it can render an opponent's strategy useless when they have to rely on one or two cards.
And remember what was said above, it's a RECYCLING Mind Rot, a card that costs 3 CMC. So If you only used his effect once, then technically, you just paid 2 CMC for a 3/3.

No one should try to debunk this card. It is close to being broken, but thanks to it's high cost, it's fair enough that people won't be angry after they play with you.
