Did everyone miss the part where this guy must be blocked? That leaves the door open for all sorts of shenanigans:
*Did your opponent cast a fat creature blocking your way? Play your Nightshade Peddler and now he has no choice but to trade with your 2mana drop.
*Do you need one of your creatures to get through but there is a pecky wall/chump blocker/etc.? This guy soaks up the blocker.
*Want to trigger morbid for your tragic slip? Attack away.
Reckless Waif may be more potent in a tuned deck, but it isn't strictly better, and definitely not as fun as this one.

This guy's my best buddy in limited. To date, I've drafted no fewer than 11 of him. He may not be viable elsewhere, but he's a really solid pick in limited.

Far away from those he could hurt? Nope! There's an entire village in the background, for feck's sake! What a lazy and irresponsible "hermit".

Not terrible, but still outshined by Reckless Waif if you ask me.

Except for that crazy pointing hermit."

Wizards: Printing bad cards "because they're common," is stupid. Stop doing it.
I know that guys like this are valuable for draft tournaments and stuff. That doesn't mean you can print obviously better cards within the same set for less mana.

Indeed an uncommon outshines a common; however, semi-strict upgrades (I acknowledge that this has an additional point of attack power) due to rarity also bug me. Reckless Waif was a card that cost R to become a 3/2. This, while only costing one additional mana, still makes it just expensive enough as to not be worth it.

I have to say, I like the fact that his art shows him in the wilderness while his flip-side's art shows him on the outskirts of a city. Very nice touch.
