I run a Jor Kadeen deck with 2 of these. Can't tell you how many times first strike has saved my rear. Just laugh in the face of infect critters.

Instant speed first strike is highly relevant. If you have a mere {1}{W} untapped, your opponent in many cases has to block as though ALL your stuff has first strike to prevent you picking off the creatures he/she wants to keep.
