They really nailed the 2cc filter with this card.

I'm not above putting one of these in for a splash of some other color, or in a deck with three or more colors. The cantrip means you don't lose card advantage and it can help complete a metalcraft trio. It's like Barbed Sextant that you don't have to sacrifice to use, but you get the draw immediately.
Nothing great, but it can and should find a home in some casual decks.

Perfect, because it's non-green color fixing that doesn't cost you a card. Great if you want to make a land ramping deck with all swamps...

It's just like Mana Cylix, but you draw a card at the cost of an extra mana. Not altogether bad, but Mana Cylix is better.

18 years later, Wizards still doesn't understand why free mana fixing is broken.

Really nice design. Enables 3-color casual decks and fits in perfectly with Esper, which needs the mana-fixing and loves to bounce it all day.

Now you're thinking with Portals!

I'm not a huge fan of mana filters in EDH especially since Chromatic Lantern is out. There are plenty of other mana generating artifacts I would rather run than this.
