While it may be slower, I do prefer Distortion Strike. Whenever I play Izzet colors, it's usually one large creature rather than a swarm.

Goblin Electromancer, Guttersnipe, Talrand, Sky Summoner, this, some cantrips like Thought Scour, Think Twice and a burn-counter might be devastating.

Lot's of creatures in these colors REALLY want to connect to the opponent and trigger abilities.

Now the Izzet are thinking with portals.
And they can take all their compagnon cubes with them if they can afford to pay 3RedBlue!

Hard to imagine this only takes them a single blue mana while ancient mages had to gather the high concentration of three blue mana for a single teleport.
