@Clash25, No you would not be able to block that creature. War drums creates a world affect, it is not targeting any creatures so protection would not negate the ability. It is the same for creatures with this affect. For example, Phyrexian Colossus cannot be blocked by fewer than three creatures. One creature with protection from artifacts is not an exception to this ability.
EDIT: Also, I absolutely love this card. I have it in my Rith EDH deck swinging with a ton of tokens. Combine it with War Cadence and mass creatures can quickly become unblockable.

If you are attacking with a red creature and have Goblin War Drums, and the defending player has one creature with protection from red, can they still block that red creature?

Works well with War Cadence. Your opponent has to pay a bunch for each creature blocking, and they have to use two at a time.

I like this kind of evasion in red very much, they should keyword it! With this, the opponent must do some suboptimal block, in order to block this creature. It's chump-proof usually and if blocked can get card advatage...
Moreover, for me it's really flavouful: the red attacking creature seems like that Rugby player that is going to score a try and needs two opponents to tackle him because one is not enough!
We need more of this in red.
