I like how with flashback it's a constant threat early game. Whatever your opponent plays will die. It may cost them some turns playing weaker things (that they're OK with losing) while you have a chance to build up stronger creatures.

It also seems like it could be a significant part of a fun deathtouch/trample/regenerate deck.

First time I used this card in limited I made a huge mistake. I kept thinking it was like lure, and it was going to force all creatures to block it, instead of just one of any creature. Turn 4 my opponent managed to drop a Ghoultree, and I dropped this on a Black Cat, not realizing that his Young Wolf could chump block for it...

Needless to say, no one wants to chump block a Black Cat until they've emptied their hands. This is an excellent turn 3 play.

Too many people are neglecting to realize just how valuable the easy Green flashback is to activate. Sure, you don't get to control the block, but you get to do this twice.

with RtR coming out, I think this might find a nice home on a Lotleth Troll that's eaten a few Slitherheads.

Not a bad spell. Not mind-blowing, but it certainly does it's job. Yes, you have no control over which creature your opponent chooses to block with, but regardless, you ARE forcing their play. The player that controls the decision making (even just "Should I block?") has the better odds of winning.

3/5

And @Cazario, I whole-heartedly agree with you. @Majinara, you are possibly the most negative and irritating card reviewer I have ever read. Have you actually tried playing anything except Commander yet? And what does it take to get a useful (and POSITIVE!) review out of you? Please, if you have nothing constructive or sensible to say, just crawl back into your corner and stroke the three cards in Magic's existence that you DON'T consider a waste of cardboard and leave the rest of us in peace.

EDIT: Of course, this does become a combat trick with Alchemist's Refuge or Hypersonic Dragon, and works great with Tims. Special mention goes to ... (see all)

Rancor makes this quite dangerous, especially on a hyper-efficient early game creature such as Treacherous Pit-Dweller

Have you seen this art in full resolution? Amazing! Alluring indeed. This has been my desktop wallpaper for the longest time.

"Why won't you guys block my Phyrexian Obliterator???"

This should solve that problem.

Deathtouch and lure effects get printed together a lot, don't they? This, Turntimber Basilisk, Gift of the Deity, and I'm sure there's more. Not complaining, though. And I loved the G/B flashback. The Golgari would be proud.
