Probably the fourth best red X spell behind Banefire, Demonfire, and Kaervek's Torch.

Pretty nasty, I love the flavor text.

I'm fairly certain that redirect does work on this. The damage caused by the spell upon resolution cannot be dealt to something else, but the spell itself can still be manipulated while on the stack.

The only drawback on this card is that spells are expensive...
As of the whole card, name is flavorful, artwork rocks and flavor text is really awesome!

A really nice burner of your opponent is a fan of damage prevention or redirection.
A forgotten gem.

Sorry, Jaya, but I would rather play Kick-the-Ouphe.

Would be more elegant, and more useful, if its damage to players couldn't be prevented either.

@UNBAN_SHAHRAZAD: Disintegrate is much better than this.

Disintegrate can be prevented, but it does exile a creature if you kill it. Though nowadays there's Red Sun's Zenith. I still use this after all these years, though.

There's this guy, Frontline Medic. I had to lighting bolt it before I cast this to beat the guy. He had no idea I was waiting all game to blow up his medic-it was four-player and I was the least aggressive.
