Well, I've never used this card, but it doesn't seem like a good deal for three mana. It neither has a solid body nor is an efficient mana fixer. Sure, it can serve both purposes, but it just doesn't seem efficient. Maybe that's the reason I've never used this card.

It gives you mana, not lands. Lands give you mana, they are not mana themselves. Mana has no card associated with it. Don't feel bad for the mistake though, I see A LOT of beginning players make this mistake. Why? Because they took the wording off of the basic lands and replaced it with just the symbol. When a new player looks at a basic land, they see a {R} and think that {R} is what 'Mountain' means. So when they see {R} on nonland sources, they think it lets them search for a Mountain. Not so. Spe11caster, you're not alone! I can't even count the times I've had to explain this, right up with the fact that lands are colorless.
Wizards, please bring back the {T}!

This card is great in the red/white Boros soldier decks. Gets you the red mana and a cheap flier, which is hard to get for a standard soldier.

Would the mana come from your deck, and thus require a re-shuffle? or would it be one mana of any color from the side board?
