Heartachingly beautiful art. High-five, Adam Paquette!
Adam's pretty hit-or-miss, and he overuses fog/mist in order to avoid painting in more detailed backgrounds. (Rust Scarab, for example.) But a lot of people do that, so, whatever. He tried for a similar muted misty effect in Haunted Fengraf in the previous set; there it feels like just another foggy spooky graveyard, not bad, not eye-poppingly good.
But here, wow, it's just gorgeous. Certainly more muted and less garishly saturated than his Forest and Island from RtR.
You can see this same island in the backdrop of Druid's Familiar, also painted by Adam. I love it when cards' art tie together. High-five for that too :)

I really love the parallels between Innistrad and Avacyn Restored lands. The calm, idyllic settings of the land under Avacyn's guarding presence are suddenly darkened by her departure, leaving Innistrad at the mercy of classic horror denizens of the night. If the two cards were side by side, you'd get something that kind of looks like a "split second" card, with the two contrasting halves of the same thing.

The Innistrad version has the same ship and background on rough seas. I run both in my Pirate theme deck!

I hate the special abilities on this card, "Tap for blue mana, sacrifice for MASSIVE DAMAGE, destroy target opponent..."
