This card is very good in the proper context.
My current FNM winning deck is major creature destruction with this guy as my win card. Blood Artist makes his appearance to assist. Filled the deck with Tragic slips, Murders, Cower in fear, then killing wave and Black Sun's Zenith to get some emergency boardwipe.
Oh, and we mustn't forget the nice green trample ring to place on the lumberknot. He grows, he attacks, he gets through. I win. :)

@ Stonedman36: "Dies" is defined as the movement of any creature from the battlefield to the graveyard. If it enters the graveyard from any other location (i.e.- your hand, your library, or exile) then is not considered to have died. Also, if a creature is removed from the battlefield and is prevented from ever even entering the graveyard then it is also considered to have not died. (i.e- Pillar of Flame, Rest in Peace, and Oblivion Ring)

Quick question here?
My friend just got a (DA) "Grave Power" Deck which is based on putting monsters into the graveyard to power up his other monsters.
My question is this - When a creature go's from the library to the graveyard dose that creature "Die"? If so Lumberknot seems like a great counter to his discard deck.

It's still a 1/1 for 4 and it doesn't have any immediate effect. No thanks. I'd much rather have Dungrove Elder

Put the card in a deck where a lot of creatures die and you'll find it's amazing. I run two green decks, one with a bunch or ramp and huge creatures, and one that is hella aggressive. This guy is in my aggro green along side Predator Ooze, Young Wolf, Strangleroot Geist, Boggart Ram-gang, Vorapede, Wolfir Silverheart, Howlgeist, and four Elvish Mystics and two Llanowar Elves. The tempo of the deck is amazing. These creatures are backed by a playset of Rancors and Hunger of the Howlpacks. I run 20 mana. This guy takes great care of my late game when a 1/1 with undying no longer serves much purpose. Plus, he's easily traded with your side boarded Acidic Slimes when you need them.
