He's in this core set to keep its Exalted creatures in check.

Intrepid Hero: What just happened here?
Big Game Hunter: Didn't you know? Wizards did a power creep and creatures are bigger than ever
Intrepid Hero: What madness is this?!
Big Game Hunter: Oh and they gave stuff like...Smite the Monstrous to deal with them. I have been fighting them alone all these times, lets team up to rid ourselves of these silly creatures
Intrepid Hero: "LET ME AT THEM!!"
Welcome back slayer of big creatures!

This is an excellently crafted card.
Logically, you'd think a giant-slaying hero would be bigger than a 1/1. I mean, as everyone's saying, he can kill the non-Ulamog Eldrazi!
However, that's just his thing. It's his speciality. If you asked a Chef to do your Tax Returns, do you think they'd do a good job?
So when he's facing normal creatures, like Goblins and such, he's confounded: "Where's the giant horns? Where are the wings? I have no idea how I kill this thing..."

Where were you when the Titans were running rampant?

Cool combo I saw at the prerelease: This+Rancor on an opponent's creature.

Give him hexproof and this can get very, very nasty.

Haha, I love seeing comments about this guy and the powercreep over the past few years.
This indeed calm things down a bit :)
With that it's even greater than it was before.
It just gives a smile to my face that a card of my time (7th edition) comes back, with a glorious reception from players :)

After a small break, politely asked by Emrakul, the aeons Torn and friends in order to avoid disgrace, our Hero is back to business.
