This set was ridiculous for red in limited. The best common in the set was Magma Burst, the best uncommon in the set was Flametongue Kavu, and this is the best rare in the set.

A little overcosted by today's standards, and not big enough for his ability to be very useful. Even if you compare it to similarly costed cards from back then, I think Serra Angel still wins.
It would be fun to throw a Soul Link on him, but that's a tricky color combination.

Sort of fun in multiplayer with Blazing Shoal (not really the best use of that card, but whatever). Shoal, attack someone for a ton, then activate his ability to wreck some other opponent's creature.
