Tutor 2 creature cards from your graveyard for the price of 1 card from your hand. Sounds like a good deal.

I agree that this had anti-synergy with the block, but I wouldn't say it's impossibly bland. This is disentomb for 1 more mana, but with the ability to reuse it if the game goes on really long. It's not particularly interesting, but it's not impossibly bland. They took an old card, and gave it flashback. Better than just making another disentomb/raise dead variant (ie 1 mana for 1 creature that's it).

Holy Shit.
This is self-mill gold, right here. Oops, your Boneyard Wurm got mixed in with all those dredge and flashback cards? Welp, now you get him back. Hit by discard with Laboratory Maniac hiding alone in your hand? There's a card for that. Amazing.

How impossibly bland. And I bet losing three cards out of your graveyard went down well in a set with Threshold, Pyschatog, and enough big 'yard enablers to make Hermit Druid blush.

disentomb cards are supremely useful in the right deck, and are still relevant even in the wrong decks. 2 for 1 is a great deal, considering there are no obvious drawbacks.
