I'm not going to say they're better just yet (and not just because we don't have opposed-color versions yet). There's the matter of not being able to get two of the same color of mana this way, important for some of the pickier single-color spells. If the RNG hates you enough that this is your only source of red mana for some time, and the spell you want/need to cast requires at least RR...

If they keep reprinting the New Core Set Duals, I think eventually these might finally see competition for 'Cheapest Dual Land Cycle That Really Works'.
Until then, I'm of the opinion that a playset of this cycle should just flat out be packaged together as 'Newbies' Non Basic Land Pack'. Anybody that's got extras, you owe it to your local Newbie to make their decks better.

Better than the 'Moor/'Tide dual-lands only in decks with more than two colors, since it can filter from the third color. Not sure if I'd consider it better than Dragonskull Summit.

THIS IS F^&$!()^$@(#$&^@$(*@ AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I said that because they're INCREDIBLY cheap to get for casual decks. Not sure if they're easily available though...
filtering from a third color is CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree that these are better than the 'Moor/'Tide dual-lands for 3, 4, or 5 colored decks.
When I saw the price on this card, jaw fell open and I stared at the computer for ages not believing my eyes... budget 'Moor/'Tide dual-lands...potentially budget 5-color decks... 4 colors decks... 3 color decks... EVEN 2 color decks.

Picked 4 of these up at my local store for 80 cents each. I have no idea why this doesn't get any love from buyers, but I'm going to really enjoy having a manafixer in my aggro deck that doesn't even slow me down. =D

I like it. I'd have to say it's almost better than the 'Moor/'tide duallands, even though it can't make colorless.

I think these are best as a 2-of in a deck so you never get too screwed by them. They're great budget mana fixers that have a nice barely visible drawback. For about a $1.50 these can make very good 2 and even 3 color decks no problem.
I'm saying this as an owner of original duals; these are quite reasonable.
