Well, there's also the -0/-1. Although, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to take a look at what else was available for red to play available-for-blocking games with (besides just blasting the blockers away, that is).

It could be OK for taking care of annoying one-drops or two-drops like Birds of Paradise, Dark Confidant or Noble Hierarch. It's also a red card that can get rid of indestructible creatures like Stuffy Doll or Darksteel Myr. Most red burn spells can't take care of indestructible cards like those.

Not a great card by any stretch, but not nearly as horrible as other cards out there. It's kind of stupid that it's rare though.

This raises interesting questions. I always thought Ironclaw Orcs couldn't block big creatures because of everyday cowardice, but the existence of this card seems to imply that there's actually some sort of enchantment causing them to run away like little girls every time they see a Pearled Unicorn! Isn't that curious?

Incidentally, if you've never played Homelands in Limited (in which case you should consider yourself lucky), this is actually a pretty high pick as a surprisingly solid removal spell in such a low-powered environment.

@ Superllama, remember that you can always play this postcombat.

Honestly, while this card is by no means good, it's not as bad as people are saying (and not nearly as bad as a lot of other Homelands cards.) It kills a wide range of 1-toughness utility creatures, including regenerating ones like Will-O-the-Wisp and Drudge Skeletons; and it will prevent slightly bigger things from chump blocking, which can be game-winning for red.

It's not a good card, but for one mana it's at least usable. No, it won't kill their 6/6 fatty, but what one-mana red card will?

(If I were fixing it, I'd just make it so the enchanted creature can't block at all.)

The real Ironclaw Curse is that I've got a million Ironclaw Orcs in a box that I can't do anything with.

THIS IS A RARE? Ok most of the Homelands rares are quite disappointing but this takes the cake...

I'm fairly certain that nowadays R would get you the very simple "Enchanted creature can't block,' and at common...

Oh boy, your 6/6 went down to a 6/5, now when I attack with my 5/5, if you block, it DIES...oh wait, never mind, IT CAN'T FREAKING BLOCK, SO I CAN'T KILL IT WITH CREATURES!!!!! Oh well, maybe One With Nothing will help...

This should turn the creature it enchants into an orc. Or perhaps simply set its toughness at 1. Or just be Stun.
