Actually, this card is incredibly useful, in that it gets a card in your hand without forcing you to discard one, and without using the 'draw' keyword. Add Browse to the Maralen of the Mornsong + Mindlock Orb combo, and you're the only one who doesn't have to play out the game with what they're holding.

Way back when Alliances first came out I put this in a deck to see if it was any good (and I liked the picture), turns out that it has its uses. Of course today there are much better cards, but for its time the ability to skim your deck for the bomb that you need was pretty useful.

One of my favorite cards of all-time. Allows card-draw and massive opportunity to pick the card you want and thin out your deck. Once it thins your library to nothing, combos with Soldevi Digger to let you recur the remaining cards quicker.
Also combos with Zur's Wierding to allow card draw while shutting down your opponent.

Browse was a key card in a combo control deck I ran in Extended back some years ago called "Zur's Worship". I'd use Words of Worship with Zur's Weirding, I'd keep gaining 5 life during my draw step while my opponents never drew a card; I'd use Browse to get cards into my hand (Browse doesn't actually draw cards so it ignores Zur's Weirding's replacement effect). The deck got 2nd place in the tourney. Those were fun times. This card defiantly still has some play value if anything cause it ignores "draw" trigger and replacement effects and lets you pick from 5 cards when the exiled cards are redundant.
