@ A3Kitsune:
True, but Vivid Marsh is not Pauper legal. And I can see several circu{}mstances where I would like to play a land that sacrifices itself (Second Sunrise, Bitter Ordeal, Terravore, Tarmogoyf, etc.) that the Vivids would not be able to facilitate.
If anything, lands that make extra colors under any circ{}umstances are worth their weight in gold in the proper commander deck, no matter what silly drawbacks they have.

I loved this Cycle so very much. It was common, so younger me had plenty of access to them, and they were surprisingly powerful.
The ability to create the mana of any color meant that it saw a lot of play in my early attempts at B/G, B/R, and B/U decks.

An important card for the Bog Deck (Bog Wraith, Bog Serpent, Bog Raiders, Bog Hoodlums etc) as it helps you splash green for Bog Gnarr.
