Running it with Grim Feast would actually let you play with Jund.
An easier (colorwise) card to run it with would be to simply have a play set of Deathgreeter in your deck.

Seems like it could be very strong in a hyper-aggressive deck.

I would use this with Grim Feast or something along those lines to balance out the drawback.

More amusing in Commander since you have twice as much life.

Wow, what a cool mechanic - I love the way that reads, I'm surprised I haven't seen anything else like it.

3 life per creature isn't terrible, especially since you can always play lifesteal effects or just burn them. It IS in black/red, after all.

Play with Children of Korlis and Tainted Sigil. Add some Sun titans, Yawgmoth Bargain, Elixir of Immortality to get them back and you have a very nifty deck where you pay life to do stuff and get it back again. Eventually you'll have enough mana to go thru your entire deck each turn and destroy everything your opponent drops down.
Building such a deck as we speak. Multiplayer fun!

Great synergy with Sangromancer.

The card gets a whole lot better in commander where life is cheap and targeted mass removal is at a premium.
