No, traditional vultures are not evil beings. They are, however, signs of bad luck, and oftentimes pets of vile sorcerers and witches. Sometimes magic takes the literal route with its flavor ({osai vultures}) and sometimes it takes the cultural one.

Sitting on a tree and watching a struggling animal die, waiting to finish it off, seems pretty black to me. OM NOM NOM savannah lions! Omnomnom.

They should make Komodo Dragon. It's hunting method is to bite a large mammal into it's hind leg and wait. It's teeth contain many vicious bacteria that will eventually kill the pray. All that time the one that bit and several other lizards just wait around that the slowly dying mammal finally dies and they get to eat.

What, no comments yet on the hilarious flavor text?? :D

Anyway, this card has an interesting color in the sense that the artwork is very reddish tinted, which is unusual for a black card. It creates a stark contrast to the black border.
Furthermore, I have a very dark printing, very likely from the Multiverse Gift Box pre-release, which has almost no visible structure, it's just pure BLACK. Looks awesome.

@tavaritz: That was disputed several years ago, it is claimed that Komodos have a venomous bite.

Funny, after reading the comments here I clicked "random card" and got Osai Vultures.

Not really, since the flavor is more black.

I really think it makes more sense for vultures to be white cards. Even though they deal with death, it is on wide open areas far away from water. Just look at that art and see what I mean.
Black already has things that eat dead things in swamps.

Edit: No the flavor is not black! THERE ARE NO VULTURES IN SWAMP LANDS!!! Carrion eaters is a black MECHANIC but the thing is, wide open areas need carrion eaters too. If it weren't for vultures on savanna's then there would be rotting carcasses everywhere.

@Tommy9898: Flavor isn't based on ENVIRONMENT you dense little shit. It's based on theme. You don't tap Swamps to get creatures that are always 100% swamp based. Swamps are just wellsprings of the type of mana needed to summon depraved, carrion fueled creatures.
