Richard Kane Ferguson's art always looks spectacular in the modern frame. This is no exception.

Awesome card is awesome. Hard to hate a card that mocks Pyroclasm-based weenie doom.

Can anyone explain to me why it's worded that way instead of just using the term dies? I thought you'd only need the longer wording when it's a non creature permanent that is going to the grave.

@Tacia: The only thing I can think if is that under the current wording, creatures you own which are under an opponent's control will still produce 1/1 tokens, because they go to your graveyard; while ones you control which are owned by an opponent won't. That could be preserved by having it say "whenever a creature you own dies", but that's awkward wording that many people would miss or misunderstand.

A cheaper, often sightly worse Requiem Angel.
And Requiem Angel has far better flavor.

Yet still a nice reprint!

More token spawning that depends on death. Sure, Tibalt's deck has burn...

At least this is a good card generally

Actually, I think I would take this over Requiem Angel in a Kaalia deck. You need to spend your mana on something other than casting and recasting Kaalia, and I think this card's efficiencies are worth it. :)

So that's ONE example of where the Angel/Demon/Dragon with a spell-taped-on is not as good as the spell itself in Kaalia EDH. :P

This is one of the reasons why I hate some of the new wordings.
Battlefield - why such a long word? Field wasn't enought? If one of the problem about templating is that shorter and cleaner is better, why use such a convoluted and cacophonic word? Moreover, in Italian it translated to "campo di battaglia", that can be really long and daunting to read at first sight.

Play/cast - I like "cast" (I've started during Tempest era, so I was used to it), but why a land can only be played and not casted? This brings some other annoying wordings, like the one on Intet: "why it says 'play that card', instead of 'cast that card'?" is a logical question. This wording is not consistent...

Die - As we can see on this card, is another inconsistent word. It only refers to creatures that you control and own that goes to your own graveyard. It doesn't refer to: creatures that you don't own, creatures that you don't control, non-creature permanents. Althought some of them are only ... (see all)
