Possible combination with spell-decks running Young Pyromancer? I think that 3/1 elemental tokens with haste are pretty solid, particularly since shock is back in standard again. low mana curve spells, combined with those two creatures, makes for some pretty funny stuff right there

Now this is a card I like.
3/3 for 4 is mild in Red, but he comes with a great ability. Gives everybody who enters the battlefield a smaller Reckless Charge, for free? That's pretty freaking great, right there.

So many five drops that will obliterate if they come down after him (drool)

@Avensai I think Chandra, Pyromaster and Burning Earth are both better fours for RDW. Exava also compares favorably in builds with black.

Once Hellrider rotates, this thing will become the best red curve-topper in Standard. Until then, it might see fringe play in midrange decks that don't expect to win by turn 4. I love the power he brings. This effect was previously seen on In the Web of War, another card I am a big fan of. For best results, use with tokens. Both halves of Lingering Souls swings for 12 in the air on turn 5.

I'm not normally good at calling out cards I believe will make a major impact on Standard.
However, I didn't call Hellrider when I shoulda, and I feel that this guy in the same league as him.
So, here it is, I'm going to say that this card will make a pretty solid impact in Standard.

He doesn't have haste. Playing a hill giant on turn four is not what you want to be doing in a red deck. Hellrider gets played because it closes out the game ON TURN FOUR. Hero of Oxid Ridge got played because it closes out the game ON TURN FOUR.
Unless standard red decks get another creature that lends to an alpha strike that can happen before a Supreme Verdict (on the play), it is way more likely that they will fashion themselves after the RtR block RDW and go weenie rush with creatures. Or maybe Theros will have some decent burn cards and Young Pyromancer will become the RDW Team Captain.
Either way, a Hill Giant with no immediate board impact is not Constructed playable, and especially not comparable to Hellrider.
