Somewhat overcosted for what it does, particularly by today's much higher standards, but still not a terrible card. It is a reasonable-sized creature that is somewhat resistant to burn and immune to black.

I'm not sure why Scalebane's elite has protection from black, since Rashida Scalebane is a dragon slayer, and dragons are almost exclusively red.

I'm not crazy about protection from colors as they are very conditional. Such, he is only good against decks using black creatures and target spells. His 2 color cost plus vs his P/T is under the curve. I think he should have another ability or have +1 P/T especially that he is multicolored. Still, he is out of the range of most burn spells and can't be removed from black. Blame it all to the power creep.
