Gotta love the new oracle text- "Untap target Griffin. If it's a creature, it gets +1/+1 until end of turn." When would a griffin not be a creature?

Actually the combo is to make this a creature and change the creature type afterward. Then make him tap/untap his self.

I find this card maddening. It goes great in any Griffin deck, except Griffins in general are overcosted to the point where they're not readily playable. Even when this card first came out the cheapest Griffin you could find was {3}{W}, which makes me wonder why it and Zuberi, Golden Feather were printed. To make us wish Griffins could be cool?
It's a little less difficult to make a Griffin deck now, what with Azorius First-Wing, Fledgling Griffin, Wild Griffin, Diving Griffin, and even Tethered Griffin, but it's still not an easy thing.

There's actually a combo with this: Krosan Restorer and Amoeboid Changeling to give the Krosan Restorer +inf/+inf. Repeatable the next turn too, if neccessary, but why would it be? Just use Fling, or any number of other things.

Sadly, some of the cheapest griffin's to cast are diving griffin and griffin sentential. Both of which have vigilance. =( For other griff's it is quite nice though.
