In EDH, this guy basically becomes a tutor lategame.

Nah, but the sheer usability of this guy is great. He can draw back fetchlands, spells, etc, whatever. Much more useful here than in any other format, that's for sure.

A lot of gold cards like this from Alara block you'll be surprised that they haven't been reprinted yet, because they'll stick out in your collections and you'll think you have a million of them. :P

The saving grace is that his ability doesn't require combat damage.
