When I first saw this, I thought it was a strictly better Soul's Fire. Then I realized it only hits creatures. Not a bad tradeoff for 1. Play with Purphoros, God of the Forge for extra flavor points.

Oh wow, and I thought Pit Fight was a great addition to red decks. But hey, all those high power, low toughness dudes in red that couldn't fight well now can really get the job done. Go get 'em, Cyclops of One-eyed Pass!

More vulnerable to devastating responses from opponents than direct removal is, but still gets the job done most of the time.

Solid Removal most of the time for red. What's not to like? I see this almost like Doom Blade except red, and dependent on you controlling strong creatures rather than the target being the right color. Fire-breathing creatures probably will go well with this as well. Doom Blade is still better for those large creatures I suppose though, but this is also common.

edit: Just realized this also triggers Heroic!

One-sided fight is better than the alternative. Still, this feels very much like a green card other than the name. Which is interesting considering only green would run this as red has much better ways to deal with creatures--ie. burn. I see this has a 4 star rating so I can only assume those people rated this based on Limited only since outside of that it's worse than pretty much any 2-mana burn red has.
