Wizards, what is it with you and uncommon artifacts that have costly abilities? There have been plenty of good uncommon artifacts, but there are also many pieces of junk, most of which are from old sets, but many are recent.

It really doesn't compare that poorly to Amber Prison. Sure, just creatures, but this is Theros block. Lock down those bestowed guys in the brig.

The penalty for confusing "desert" with "dessert" is even worse.

"Hey guys, I'm here for the free-- OH MY GODS EVERYTHING IS OVERCOSTED!"

Yea, you can't survive a night in a Brazen Bull.

So. I tap down creature #1. They don't untap. My turn, I untap my quarters, and immediately pay 6 and tap down a second creature. The first dude can untap now, but that's 2 creatures removed while my early aggro red / white creatures beat face. I think it has potential, especially because you can continuously remove the biggest creature.

Considering the (possibly only existing in myth) execution device this is based on, how does the creature just wind up tapped?

That said, I wonder how this will be seen in comparison to Amber Prison...

Cool effect... hideously overcosted.

Really though it's not that overcosted, since it can indefinitely detain an additional creature each turn

What were they thinking with this overcosted card? It makes me think of the early days of Magic when card design was in its infancy and thus gave birth to several bad cards. But we are in 2014 now, so it is beyond me as to how such a crappy card made it all the way through development. I can't imagine ever playing this dissapointing piece of cardboard.

The thing I really like about this card is that the torture device depicted actually existed

I'm sad it's not very playable, because that thing is terrifying!
