Yeah, either game ending or a surprise "I can kill your super big enchanted creature".
Yep, granting double-strike INSTANTLY is quite powerful (although 3 mana is quite a lot for some, the option to target more, via Strive makes up for it).

One of the few Strive cards I've seen where the Strive cost is less than the casting cost. So it would be a good idea to use the Strive on this one. It can trigger White Heroics, such as Fabled Heros or Phalanx Leaders, and double-strike is an awesome ability. Double the damage after I've put counters on all my guys with Phalanx Leader? Nice one. One of the more solid Strive cards, should see alot of play, for a good reason.
