2011-01-20 CotD: According to the Mirrodin Style Guide, "The interior of Mirrodin is a vast, featureless expanse of silvery, dull metal. The only features of the landscape are the mycosynth, the occasional artifact creature, and Panopticon. The interior is lit by the mana-core sun, which washes everything in intense, pure-white light. The mana core appears as a giant sphere of pure white plasma suspended at the nucleus of the planar sphere."

Fun art comparison with Phyrexia's Core.

@deortle154: That means you add 1 colorless mana to your mana pool. It can not be used to pay for any colored mana, whereas the mana you get from losing charge counters lets you pay for ANY color of mana.

The best land under $1, by far. No curve in a control or combo deck is so good that it maximizes its use of potential mana every single turn; it's surprising how often you find yourself tapping for that charge counter. And it's not a tapland. Every budget player should be running 4 of these in a 3+ color deck.

One of the best budget mana fixing lands. I usually have these in any five color decks. This card is far superior to any of the comes into play tapped duels. Sure building up the counters is slightly annoying, but it guarantees the right color mana. In multi-player, this is better then gemstone mine because it won't die after you use it. After you are mana fixed it still supplies you with mana, great!

A win for flavor.
You "HI there, Mirrodin, I'd like to make use of your core's mana-bathing, please."
Core "Alright, you can have your share the full-spectrum mana-light that I naturally produce for free, but if you're wanting something more specific I'm going to have to charge you a small amount of energy input, and it'll take a bit of time for us to process it."
"...why?"
"Second law of thermodynamics."
"Oh. Well, if I don't need anything right this minute, can I pay up now and come back for the mana later?"
"Sure, we'll keep the energy input stored as charges for you."
"Sweet."

Greta card for fixing the mana that you want, slow since you can only do it once per turn but that's what un-tapping cards are for.
