Fun stuff with Knight of the Mists.
"Congratulations. I have knighted your Baneslayer Angel!
. . .
Bad news. It appears your Baneslayer Knight has been slain by a 2/2."

Try this in a sliver deck with Sliver Overlord.
Steal any creature on the table for ? I'm getting excited just thinking about it!

1 mana drop to protect Lord of the Unreal or any other creature running with Lord of the Unreal.

I wonder why they didn't remove the Wall restriction on cards like this, Standardize or Unnatural Selection.
Well, there are still about a dozen cards which deal with Walls, but at least some of those could have been reworded to refer to creatures with defender instead.
Well, maybe it was simply kept since Wizards also didn't want to change the Oracle too far from the printed card text.
The card itself is not the best one-drop, but offers some decent combos and proofs itself as handy meddler when playing against tribal decks.

It allows you to attack with defenders like Plumeveil or Ageless Sentinels and word well with Callous Oppressor, but otherwise it is a boring card. And oh yes, quite a fun with Horobi, Death's Wail.

Clearly a combo piece, but quite a powerful one in the right deck.
Thrull Champion has a very nice synergy with this card for repeatable creature stealing.
