This is one of the most poignant flavor texts in Magic. I've always had a soft spot for the doomed civilizations of Sarpadia.

Giving a creature first strike as a reaction to blocking can deside combats. Red loves its 1 toughness hasted creatures, green has Elvish Ranger, and in white Blade of the Sixth Pride comes to mind.

Useful ability, better than some other one-drops...would prefer it without the {T} symbol but that would be overpowered. Interestingly enough he can give himself first strike and has a decent tribal type (Soldier)

The ability will come in handy more than once, trust me. Just keep a land card around for the ability. Try it on an Elite Vanguard.
