I know everybody says 'dies to removal', but when that removal is Shock, and you paid six mana for it, there's a problem.

Is it just me or are the abilities backward. Shouldn't Birds make you fly and Wizards draw card?

First ability: Hey not bad
Second ability: This is why we can't have nice things

It should cost 5 mana instead or have a higher toughness. I run it in my bird-tribal-EDH deck. It's a rather nice card in such a format. You can use this guys ability the turn it comes into play, and with enough tokens, that means tons of card draw each turn. Since you probably draw more birds, that means more and more card draw. :)
4 stars for me (as a rating for it in bird tribals, assuming noone plays it in other decks).

If this guy costed 1 or 2 less, I bet he'd be awesome for Bird tribal. As it is, it seems a tad bit over costed.

This guy's the bird form of Shieldmage Elder, and probably not as good. I suppose if you had both of them out they'd make a weird duo. I feel like the reason this bird wizard costs so much is his ability is essentially unbounded: it's limited only by the number of birds and/or wizards you control (though to be blunt, the wizard ability is junk, even without the existence of cards like Levitation). Ironically, at the time the card was printed, you'd have to just use your other Aven creatures to draw cards, but since then, Bird Token technology has truly "taken off" (har har har). Consider: Flurry of Wings, Emeria Angel, Dovescape, Call, and so forth. So maybe there's hope for your casual white/blue bird deck after all!

The reason the abilities are flipped is that most birds already fly, while wizards are already good at drawing you cards (or... at least they are better at drawing you cards than birds tend to be)
