A nice casual card. Can copy spells with split second, which is fun. And can copy a single spell several times, if you can afford the cost. :)

Nivix Guildmage copies spells that you control, not any spell. I could see this being viable in commander (really, what isn't?) and you can pump all sorts of extra mana into it. I should put him in my blue commander deck.

You could use this in an infinite mana combo. Then use Rite of Replication. Make an infinite amount of anything, essentially.

Not sure why this is rated so high; sure reusable copying is nice, was looking for something like this... but 6 mana to copy an instant or sorcery, and then ~8~ mana after that? And usually sitting around as a 2/2 for all that too.
I want to like this, and not one to complain about costs usually (still like Cloven Casting after all), but having a hard time justifying that cost when a Nivix Guildmage can do the same thing for half the mana cost, not to mention the 2 cmc on Fork or Reverberate.

Use that Rite of Replication on Quanar for more lulz.
