Yes Vernal Bloom, we know what forests do. Thanks for the reminder.

Not true. Since Heartbeat of Spring benefits opponent as well. Altho Vernal Bloom does too, but this is limited to forests only.
Vernal Bloom will give you much more advantage over your opponent (unless they play green).

This card is far better than Heartbeat of Spring. Heartbeat of Spring is likely to benefit your opponent first.
If you're playing monogreen with Vernal Bloom (as you should be), there's a decent chance your opponent will get no benefit from this card, and you'll have an overwhelming resource advantage. Fantastic casual card.

Weaker version of Heartbeat of Spring.

very useful in conjunction with burns! this plus fanning the flames has turned the tide of a losing battle more than once.

One of the key elements of a truly terrifying Azusa, Lost but Seeking deck.

It is a shame that only Forests, and not Green land sources (EG Gaea's Cradle) add an additional mana.
However, if you're playing mono-green EDH, what non-forest lands are you going to be playing?
Dryad Arbor?
Gaea's Cradle?
Pendelhaven?
Yavimaya Hollow?
Wirewood Lodge?
Oran-Rief, the Vastwood?
Tree of Tales?
Okina?
Mosswort Bridge?
I know I listed a whole bunch of them, but what other playable ones are you going to be playing? You only need so many, and with lots of cards like Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary and Arbor Elf, it's usually better to play more forests.

Question: would shocklands like Overgrown Tomb benefit from this? The basic land type is present... So theoretically, it could be tapped and add both, yes?

@kor6sic6
It should, because the world "basic" is absent.

I loved this card back when I was playing in high school. I used to roll this bad boy out in a non-standard deck by turn 4, and by turn 5, drop 2 Blastoderms quietly and hoped no one at the table noticed until I started ripping off heads.
