To be fair, it is often going to be ", : You lose X life. Target opponent loses X+1 life. Pay X in black mana only."
Sure there are problems (Fog, etc) but you can let each activation resolve before you commit to another one, etc. And you'll occasionally want to block with it.
Not great but not terrible for a common. Should definitely have a higher rating than Bog Imp!

I wish it didn't involve mana, but if not it would be a turn two card.

Turn one: Swanp, dark ritual, Grimclaw Bats
Turn two: 7 black lotuses, pay 19 mana and 19 life, turn two win
Trust me, it will work

@ Superllama12
You really just need 6 black lotuses... ;)

This card is almost a flying Nantuko Shade!
But, wait...
His tiny 1/1 body in comparison to the 2/1 from Nantuko and his pump cost makes him very inferior to the Shade, even with evasion!
If you already have Shades forget about this one!

Great limited finisher. Shade effects on fliers are hard to come by, and the price is often steep.

I don't care if this guy can be effective early game, I shouldn't have to pay both mana and life for anything short of +1/+1 counters. 1/5
