Not true at all. The pearl can be destroyed by one of many, many artifact destruction spells, which are more numerous than land destruction.

Not worse at all. You can only have 4 Mox Pearls in your deck, and they tend to cost hundreds of dollars each. Whereas you can make a deck full of all Plains (hmmm...how to make that work...), and you can steal..ahem, I mean, pick...as many as you need every time you go to a store and play draft or sealed or anything.
That notwithstanding, I've seen much better art on a Plains.

If anything, Mox Pearl is worse than plains.
1: The "four-card" limit. Plains just straight-up ignores it.
2: Plains doesn't die to artifact removal. Play only Moxen and a Shattering Spree will be lethal to you.
3: Landfall. 'Nough said.
4: Those moonfolk with their returning land abilities. Okay, so no one played those.
5: Creatures that need to sac lands, e.g scythe tiger or akki avalanchers.
6: The art on Mox Pearl is kinda boring, some plains have really cool art.
I think that's reason enough for why plains kicks ass.
