@kitsunewarlock: Rolling Thunder doesn't have buyback. Fanning the Flames does.

Better in every way than Firebreathing, art and flavor included. This card is really good--throw it on a creature, swing, pump the creature up and, if it dies due to a blocker, you can return the crown and try again. Kind of like Rolling Thunder but the buyback is free at the cost of only being able to do your damage through a creature...ok so its nothing like Rolling Thunder. But it has its uses...2.5/5 stars.

Flat out superior to Firebreathing, nice artwork and flavor. Should have been reprinted more often than Firebreathing.

Question: Compare it to Rancor.
Granted, this is probably EXCELLENT compared to
a: Most if not all Auras that came before it.
b: Certainly a lot of Auras that came after it.
But I am wondering: is that Mana Cost to return it, a little too much? It would be stronger if it could return to hand for free (well duh) or at least free of mana and some weird restriction that's easy to do, but I am asking: is that necessary? Or have you all tried playing it against many different decks with Modern Card Frames, against Duel Decks and in Commander, and is that Mana Cost to return it usually Easy to Pay or have you occasionally had issues where you wanted to return it for free and cast another Lightning Bolt?
It is just that Rancor makes me suspicious that this could be good, since Rancor is WAY better, and less good than it used to be. Auras are just such a drawback :P
