Had they reprinted this card in Scars, it would have been in the sideboard of every green deck. Swords and Skulls are serious business.

I gave it bonus points because it's essentially free to cast. It's still really narrow in focus, at least by current terms (not that Mirrodin was all that long ago).

Almost as narrow as Psychic Spear, still 0.5 points.

The guy in the picture is mimicking Stoneforge Mystic's sad face.

A lot of ppl on this site/app are judging cards all wrong.. At least in my opinion. What all should be taken into account when judging a card? Some of it would be casting cost, flavor, functionality, the ratio of those to its rarity, etc, etc. right? Well.. What's the prob here? Did you expect it to draw you a card too?? Tough crowd..

To anyone who doesn't realize how effective this can be, and how demoralizing to your opponents:
4 of these and a single land in your starting hand can completely blow away pretty much all the Paradise Mantles, Bone Saws, Kite Shields, and Spidersilk Nets your opponent is ever likely to play on a first turn. Throw in the possible 1-drop equipment that could go with them, and you might even catch a Basilisk Collar or Skullclamp before they ever cause a problem.
Even if you never have a reason to play it first turn, consider that it will not effect your mana ramping at all. At worst, it's a single card disadvantage. At best, it's a destroyer of your opponent's strategy for FREE.

Bludgeon Brawl lets you use this to nuke any artifact that isn't a creature.
