Alright, I understand that +1/-1 is a kind of a red ability, but for some reason, -1/+1 doesn't sit right with me. When I have a big freakin' dinosaur hitting the table, I honestly don't expect it to suddenly become a 0/9. I expect it to suddenly be able to swallow my opponent whole, then floss with whatever remains. Power-lowering doesn't spell "Beast", to me. My giant t-rex with bloody blades for arms shouldn't have a "cower in fear" button. +1/-1 might be a little more flavourful, even if it turns my beastie into a glass cannon.
Anyway, can't really defend this card mechanically either. Not that it's bad, it's just forgettable.

Back when this was printed, you could stack combat damage, activate the ability, and then let the damage resolve, meaning he'd still do 5 damage and have extra toughness. Ruling changes have not been kind to this guy.

This guy's ability really only works with Doran, the Siege Tower and other power/toughness modifiers. The only thing that makes it worthwhile is that if you have nothing else to spend mana on, you can increase his toughness beyond 9, (right?) and deal lots of damage. Probably better to get lots of other creatures with higher toughness:mana ratios.

If the ability cost 1 mana this would be playable. For 2 mana an activation, +0/+2 would fit green's ability costings.

The flavor is grammatically incorrect. Shouldn't it be 'too'? As in 'one too many'?

(Example is fitting, as it matches the state of the proofreaders).

Even the commons intended mainly for draft in recent sets blow away their counterparts from Fifth Dawn's time.
Very defensive mechanism. Could've been a decent, versatile fatty in blue but green can get you so much more for 6 CMC.

It by itself, one, outnumbers what it's facing, many, because many is still not enough to take it down. For example if it activates its ability once it will kill 4 blocking 1/1 creatures and survive.
