This isn't terrible.
It's kind of like Atog, except worse, and in black, with one more base power.
Anyway, there's ways to reuse his ability(I'm looking at you, Skeleton Shard.)
Don't hate, mana-free pumping always has it's uses.

This isn't a great card, but it isn't a terrible card either.
There might not be as many artifact cards that you want in your graveyard as urgently as you want creature cards (if we compare him to Vampire Hounds), but it still has a potential for abuse.
Admittedly, there was no Argivian Restoration in Mirrodin block, but at least Bringer of the White Dawn.
