Even if Lightning Helix didn't exist, this is still a waste of mana. You can get Corrupt out for 
more and drain 6 life if you're only using swamps. And if you're running something that isn't mono-black it's unlikely you'd use this type of card anyway. Who rated this above 1?

pretty terrible compared to drain life. The effect is a drain life stuck at a bad mana cost so you can't use it as a finisher, nor can you use it earlier if you need to, nor can you do any of the myriad other bonuses that comes with a lower CMC card (tutoring based on CMC, transmute, taking less damage from dark confident or similar sources, etc)
It's terrible; but it IS still limited removal and stalling.
Also, he's flipping you off, I don't know why no one noticed that.
