And it joins the ranks of creatures whose names are the same as their typing.

I remember using this guy when he came out, he loved the Berserk.

Nice art! That thing looks scary. Also, creatures with creature types the same as their name are invariably made of win.
The good Soldier is one of the best spikes since you can funnel counters into it for double their usual impact. Assuming you can fund the transfer cost, other spikes can fuel this guy into attacking for about 10 on the fifth turn. Or eat the op's 8/8 creature and limp away a 1/1. Solid!

I actually think the creature type is wrong- this isn't ACTUALLY a soldier- an individual trained for war- it's a soldier in the sense of a soldier ant- biologically differentiated from the rest of its species for fighting.
Probably one of those things best left un-obsesssed-over.

I built a deck around this guy for about $10. It was graft, proliferate, and this guy (with triskelion for more tricks :D.)
He was very fun to get 6 or so counters on and dare people to block. Were I more intelligent about it at the time I would've just given him shadow or unblockable... but.. what can I say!? Either way, with a couple of grafts or prolifterates you can swing for 10 unblockable turn 5. Unsummon the bugger and do it again!
I need to rebuild that deck, but good..

Great interactions between this card and creatures with persist. Want to make your Glen Elendra Archmage far more powerful in your U/G deck? Go for it!
