Why just the Elf type? They seem to me to be Scouts as well as Elves.

These guys have won me a surprising number of games when coupled with cards like Windstorm.

The Elf type is what makes this card potent. Combined with the many ways to boost Elves (e.g. Joraga Warcaller) he can easily finish a game.

No it can't.
As though you have flying is not the same as having flying.
I could spend money as though I have a million dollars, but the reality is I only have Reach.

So can Treetop Rangers be blocked by creatures with reach? I'm guessing not.

Meh, this will never be a Treetop Scout. 2 more mana for a 1/1 boost, I don't think so, seeing as most of the damage of both of those comes from enchantments, instants and elvish boosts anyways.

A giant spider can fight a dragon in the sky, but not an elf that runs through branches? I know the errata makes sense based on the way the card is written, but it's pretty stupid nonetheless.
Anyway, it's over-costed. You can get 2/2 flying for 3CMC.

@but you can't get a 2/2 green elf flier for 3; this card is obviously meant for a specific deck style.
Also, Mishra is a real d***!
