Today on the mothership, red mages everywhere were finally treated to a 2/2 for 2 in red with no drawbacks. On top of this, this new card, Ash Zealot, has first strike and deals damage to those who cast spells from their graveyards. This card is a push for red after years of it not getting a powerful non-tribal 2-drop to place on a competitive curve. Red's not a weak color of any sort, but it certainly feels as though there's the least obvious cards printed for it. Perhaps this is because as one of the shallowest, or perhaps the shallowest) color in terms of card variety, Wizards is saving their key curve-fillers to release over time and not exhaust the color's options before new space is found. Even so, I'm very pleased with this new 2/2 for 2. As the original* 2/2 with haste in red, I thought I'd comment on Goblin War Buggy.
