Great card only for the casting cost. You only have to get 1 extra mana to protect the creature you're casting.

Wife uses it in her Oona, Queen of the Fae EDH deck w/ mean results.

All that being said, you should look up these higher rated cards as well:
Diplomatic Immunity
Lightning Greaves
Whispersilk Cloak

The extra 1 for Diplomatic Immunity is worth it IMHO. Makes it much more difficult to remove.

Not as goos as Lightning Greaves, but one mana is only one mana, and the shroud ability avoids the infamous two-for-one removal aura drawback.
